DNS Prefetch / Preconnect Plugins (various helpers)

prefetch feature image 1

DNS Prefetch and Preconnect are browser resource hints that tell the browser to prepare for loading external resources early, so third-party assets (fonts, scripts, analytics, APIs, CDNs, etc.) load faster when needed.

DNS Prefetch resolves the domain name early (finds its IP).

Preconnect goes further — resolving DNS and opening a TCP connection and TLS handshake ahead of time.

Adding these hints — especially for critical external domains — can reduce latency and improve performance metrics such as Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and other Core Web Vitals.
